Cambridge Technology Innovation Centre ("CambTIC", "we", "us", or "our") operates two applications: KeepReading and ReadToWrite. This policy explains how each app handles your information.

We take your privacy seriously. We design each app so that it collects only the information it genuinely needs — and in one case, that means no personal information at all.

KeepReading No data collection

KeepReading does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information.

All reading content and translations are processed locally on your device.
No account is required to use the app.
We do not use analytics services, crash reporters, or third-party SDKs that collect data.
We do not track your reading activity, vocabulary lookups, or usage patterns.
No information is sent to our servers or to any third party.

Because KeepReading collects no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions, contact us using the details below.

ReadToWrite Limited profile data

ReadToWrite lets you optionally create a learner profile to personalise your practice path. The following information may be collected when you choose to provide it:

What we collect

Name — used to address you within the app (optional).
Age — used to calibrate reading passage difficulty and content suitability (optional).
Gender — used for demographic insight to improve our content library (optional).

How we use it

To adapt exercise difficulty and passage selection to your level and context.
To improve our content and teaching materials through aggregate demographic analysis.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.
We do not use your data for advertising or marketing profiling.

Storage and security

Profile data is stored securely and transmitted over encrypted connections.
We retain your profile data only as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.
We implement industry-standard technical measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction.

Your rights

Under the GDPR (EU) and CCPA (California), you have the right to:

Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
Deletion — request that we erase your personal data.
Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Third-party services

Neither KeepReading nor ReadToWrite integrates third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The Mac App Store (Apple) manages app distribution and payment processing under its own privacy policy.

Data retention

KeepReading: No data is collected, so nothing is retained.

ReadToWrite: Profile data is retained for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account or request erasure, all associated personal data is permanently removed within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Our apps are designed for learners of all ages. ReadToWrite's optional profile fields do not require full names or precise age. If we become aware that a child under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) has provided personal data without parental consent, we will delete it promptly. Parents or guardians may contact us to request removal.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our apps evolve. Material changes will be communicated via the app or our website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
